A survey of phthalates in flavored olive oils from Turkey

Phthalates are organic contaminants that used as plasticizers in many plastic food packaging materials. Because of their lipophilic character, oils the primary source human exposure to phthalates. In this study, presence five phthalate esters; diethylhexyl (DEHP), dibutyl (DBP), butyl benzyl (BBP), diisononyl (DINP) and diisodecyl (DIDP) olive flavored with different materials marketed Turkey 2020 was determined. The samples included BBP, DINP, DIDP at lower concentrations than LOQ. DEHP most abundant all varying between < LOQ 1.81 mg/kg. highest amount found oil sample bergamot (1.81 mg/kg).
